Job Summary
Drive a tractor-trailer to transport product from the warehouse to various destination points in PA, FL, OH, and other states, ensuring timely delivery according to customer invoices and company standards. Safely load and unload product while maintaining proper food safety protocols and vehicle temperatures. Complete all required paperwork, including DOT logs, inspections, and maintenance reports, ensuring accurate case counts match bills of lading. Communicate with management regarding route deviations or product issues and develop relationships with customers through courteous service. Operate assigned equipment and work an overnight schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations, starting at various times to meet customer needs.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
- Must be insurable to operate a vehicle
- Currently authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to drive a tractor-trailer unit both in the day and at night in a variety of traffic and weather conditions and remain alert and aware of surroundings
- Ability to meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company
- Ability to operate a 3 axle tractor, 45' - 48' trailer, straight truck, onboard computer keypad and a 2 wheel hand cart
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations
- Ability to perform basic math functions (e.g. add, subtract, multiply, divide)
- Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision
- Ability to solve problems
- Ability to climb in and out of a tractor and trailer
- Ability to lift, push, or move product that weighs up to up to 50 pounds by hand
- Ability to push/pull up to 350 pounds of product with a 2-wheeled hand cart down a ramp and into the customer's storage areas
- Ability to work an overnight schedule, including weekends, holidays, overtime, on-call and starting at various times
- Ability to work in wet, hot, extreme cold and/or humid conditions
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to work with moving mechanical parts
- Ability to work at high, precarious places
- Ability to be exposed to fumes or airborne particles
- Ability to have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to sit, talk and hear regularly
- Ability to be occasionally exposed to high, precarious places
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED/equivalent degree
- 1 year of tractor-trailer driving experience
- Completion of a tractor-trailer driving school
