Job Summary
Operate and supervise center pivot and linear irrigation systems, performing regular inspections to detect issues and carry out preventive maintenance including lubrication, cleaning, and part replacements. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical components such as tower alignment and control box communication, then repair or replace faulty parts like U-joints and drop hoses. Monitor irrigation schedules based on weather and soil moisture using automation tools, maintain accurate records of maintenance and water usage, and ensure compliance with environmental guidelines. Work closely with farm management and agronomists to optimize crop yields while adhering to safety protocols. Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in a related field
- 4-5 years of experience in a similar role
- Proven experience as an Irrigation Systems Technician or in a comparable position
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining pivot and linear irrigation systems
- Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Expertise in irrigation scheduling and water management practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
