Job Summary
Install, tension, tie in, and remove conductors while climbing poles and towers. Operate basket trucks, digger trucks, trenchers, and backhoes to restore electric service after weather events or equipment failures. Maintain street lighting, underground cable systems, and transformers, including taking oil samples and performing live line maintenance. Load and haul materials, trim trees from power lines, and manage truck stock and material inventory. Perform daily equipment inspections, maintain housekeeping, and respond to emergency callouts in adverse weather conditions. Requires completion of a line mechanic apprenticeship, a Commercial Driver's License, and CPR/First Aid training.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of line mechanic apprenticeship
- Satisfactory passage of line mechanic examination
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period
- Trained in CPR and First Aid
- Good reading comprehension
- Mathematics skills
- Demonstrated ability to do ordinary line construction, operating and maintenance work
- Line trouble shooting
- Transformer installation including three-phase and parallel banking
- Reasonable knowledge of work order procedure and allocation of charges
- Knowledge of the requirements of the State Electrical Code
- Company standards for line construction
- Familiarity with live line maintenance tools and their use
- Thorough knowledge of the Company Safety Rules and Operating Practices relating to line construction and maintenance
- Ability to write clearly and concisely
- Ability to make understandable diagrams
- Ability to express oneself orally
- The ability to perform the physical requirements of the job
- Sensitivity to public opinion and property owner's rights
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment
- Travel time from your primary residence to your assigned headquarters must be 35 minutes or less under normal driving conditions
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications
