Line Mechanic

Job Summary

Set up equipment to produce cans of various heights and diameters, direct line operating personnel, and relieve operators as required. Make machine repairs and overhauls on assigned equipment, including spray equipment, neckers, and flangers. Examine can bodies for quality, adjust machinery to maintain production standards, and remove jams. Diagnose mechanical trouble, grind slitter cutters, sharpen punches and dies, and ensure proper lubrication. Develop standard operating procedures, provide training, and reinforce safety procedures. Maintain check lists, make reports, and keep assigned areas neat and orderly.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Education/GED
  • Advanced mechanical skills
  • Ability to use precision measuring devices
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of manufacturing process
  • Understanding of equipment
  • Understanding of quality specifications
  • Demonstrated involvement in safety
  • Knowledge of safety regulations which apply to work functions
  • Proven working experience in preventative maintenance
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Equipment re-build expertise
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems
  • Basic knowledge of gauges
  • Basic knowledge of tools
  • Basic knowledge of equipment
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience working in a team environment
