Job Summary
Supervise one line crew, schedule work, and assist member cities with job planning while coordinating contractor crews to complete projects safely. Lead apprentice training, maintain equipment and vehicles, and conduct weekly substation inspections for OMPA lines. Perform daily pole climbing, operate line bucket and digger derrick trucks, and enforce safety policies under hazardous conditions involving high voltages and outdoor weather. Requires a Certified Journeyman Lineman, CDL, and 7 years related experience with considerable independent action and decision-making authority.
Required Qualifications
- Safety Sensitive: This position is designated as safety/security sensitive and is subject to pre-employment, reasonable suspicion and random drug and alcohol screening.

- Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 7 years related experience and/or training, and 5 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

- Must be able to perform work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance
- Must be able to perform work operations requiring very close and continuous attention for control of operations which require a high degree of coordination or immediate response
- Must be able to perform work operations requiring intermittent direct thinking to determine or select the most applicable way of handling situations regarding the organization's administration and operations
- Must be able to determine or select material and equipment where highly variable sequences are involved
- Must be able to perform high order of analytical, interpretative, and/or constructive thinking in varied situations

- Must be able to have contacts of considerable importance and of such nature, that failure to exercise proper judgment may result in important tangible or intangible losses to the organization
- Must be able to contact with other departments or offices and also frequently with individuals in middle level positions
- Must be able to consult on problems which necessitate judgment and tact in presentation to obtain cooperation or approval of action to be taken
- Must be able to have important contacts with associates as required in advanced supervisory jobs
