Job Summary
Lead a large crew of linemen and apprentices in the construction and maintenance of underground and overhead distribution and transmission systems, including substations. Supervise and direct linemen and apprentices, train and develop apprentices, oversee equipment lineup and maintenance, and promote teamwork to maximize safety and productivity. Manage paperwork, mapping, timekeeping, and safety reports for each job; compliance with DOT drug/alcohol testing and CDL requirements; residency criteria and potential irregular hours during storms. Strong leadership and communication skills required within a safety-focused power utilities environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma Required
- Line School graduate
- 5 years experience in line construction field
- Training in a Powerline Design and Construction Program
- Class A CDL and valid driver's license
- DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements under 49 CFR Part 40 and FMCSA regulations (Part 382)
- Ability to read and comprehend Right To Know information
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment during emergencies
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations
