Job Summary
Prepare food items consistently following recipe cards and portion standards per server orders. Start pre-made items accurately while managing inventory by checking pars, rotating stock per SOP, and assisting with buffet setup. Date and cover all perishables, returning unused items to designated storage areas. Operate and maintain deep fryers, broilers, stoves, steamers, and other kitchen equipment throughout the shift. Control food waste and assist in correcting food cost problems. Work inside the kitchen for a full 8-hour shift, lifting up to 70 lbs, and adhere to all safety protocols and employee handbook regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High School education or equivalent experience
- Minimum one year food service or related work
- Ability to operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, flat top grill
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all hotel safety and security procedures
- Ability to lift food cases and metros weighing up to 70lbs
- Ability to push and pull carts
- Ability to bend to lift items and supplies
- Ability to move around the kitchen regularly
- Ability to stand continuously to complete tasks
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to climb ladders
- Ability to hear equipment timers and communicate with other staff
- Ability to check quality and portions of food
- Ability to communicate with kitchen staff
- Ability to read recipe cards and procedures
- Ability to handle grease strip, bleach, grease cutter, and lime away chemicals safely
- Willingness to wear hair restraint/hat, gloves, apron, and safety shoes for 100% of 8 hour shift
- Ability to work 100% inside
- Ability to work forty to fifty hours over a five day period
- Ability to work scheduled days and times that may vary based on need
