Job Summary
Set up and stock food items, maintain cleanliness, and comply with food sanitation requirements by properly handling and storing ingredients. Prepare ingredients, cook, and assemble dishes according to recipes while performing portion control to minimize waste. Ensure dishes are prepared timely by restocking workstations and meeting prep times for smooth delivery. Set up and clean stations, maintain equipment and shelves, and ensure ingredient freshness. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the sous-chef or executive chef. This role requires reliable transportation and availability seven days a week.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license
- Minimum of 2 years' cooking experience
- Ability to stand, bend, stretch, and lift, and carry heavy material
- Must be able to lift 5-15 pounds regularly, and over 15 pounds with assistance, upon occasion
- Availability Open and operational seven days a week
- Employees are required to be available to workdays, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to work as a team member
- Must be organized and self-motivated
- Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail
- Ability to read and follow cooking directions
- Understanding of cooking methods and procedures, and knife handling skills
- Basic written and verbal communication skills
- Passionate about hospitality
