Job Summary
Prepare nutritious, appetizing meals following community menus and recipes, with emphasis on portion-control and safe food-handling procedures. Review menus and production worksheets, ensure timely meal service, and maintain temperature and sanitation logs. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure supplies and personnel are available for planned meals, and resolve resident or staff food-service concerns while upholding confidentiality and company policies. Maintain professionalism, adhere to dress standards, and represent the community in a courteous, friendly manner. May assist with special events and be assigned other duties as needed. Requires ability to work with minimal supervision, communicate effectively in English, and pass required criminal record and health screenings.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- 18 years of age
- Culinary Arts Degree or two years’ experience in institutional or full-service restaurant cooking preferred
- Ability to read and prepare recipes as provided by the company
- Knowledge of Food Service sanitation practices
- Ability to work with staff and residents
- Effective English communication (verbal and written)
- Team-oriented
- Confidential handling of business information
- Maintain food handlers permit and certifications as necessary to fulfill state regulations
