Job Summary
Line Cook (Full Time) responsible for preparing meals in accordance with recipes, controlling waste, maintaining sanitation, and supporting kitchen operations in a high-volume hotel setting. Responsibilities include advising on inventory, assisting with receiving and stock, promoting teamwork across departments, executing daily food preparation, ensuring compliance with health standards, and potentially performing ware washing or other duties as assigned. Requires basic reading/writing/math, some food-prep experience or training, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and availability for nights/weekends/holidays. Hourly rate in Houston, TX is $18.00.
Required Qualifications
- Basic reading, writing and math skills
- Some food preparation experience or training preferred
- Fluent In the local language
- Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Standing up and moving about the kitchen
- Handling food, objects, products and utensils
- Bending, stooping, kneeling
- Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with other cooks, wait staff and supervisors
- Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when preparing meals from a recipe or when monitoring inventory
- Mathematical skills, including basic math, percentages, quantities, and variances are used frequently
- Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays
