Job Summary
Assist certified teachers with classroom activities by making materials, setting up student tasks, and monitoring behavior inside and outside the classroom. Prepare classrooms for instruction by organizing assignments, creating bulletin boards, stocking supplies, and cleaning rooms after daily activities. Act as a student help aide to move students and assist with personal hygiene needs while attending in-service training sessions and contacting parents. Perform other duties of a similar nature, including copying materials and maintaining order. This entry-level role requires a high school diploma, valid Arizona fingerprint clearance, and First Aid/CPR certification for special needs positions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- 60 hours of secondary education
- Successful completion of the Paraprofessional test
- Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of employment
- Valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC)
- Knowledge of basic first aid
- Knowledge of child care principles
- Knowledge of basic English language and grammar
- Knowledge of basic mathematical skills
- Skill in monitoring and assisting children with activities
- Skill in using office equipment
- Skill in dealing patiently with children
- Skill in maintaining order, discipline, and interest of children
- Skill in performing routine mathematical calculations
- Skill in providing customer service
