Job Summary
Engineer theatrical lighting plots and supervise their installation in theater spaces, while mentoring students through the installation process. Construct practical electrical devices for theatrical production and maintain all entertainment lighting equipment and facilities. Perform duties as assigned, including work at heights, lifting heavy objects, and manipulating tools in confined spaces. This fixed-term, full-time role begins late August 2024 and ends May 31, 2025, within the School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon University.
Required Qualifications
- Two years' experience as a lighting technician in the entertainment industry
- Experience as head lighting technician on at least three theatrical productions
- Knowledge of and experience in maintaining entertainment lighting equipment, including automated lighting fixtures
- Experience with electrical wiring and soldering techniques
- Experience programming theatrical lighting control consoles (ETC Eos Family preferred)
- Successful Background Check
- Ability to effectively interact with a varied population of internal and external partners at a high level of integrity
