Lighting Specialist

Job Summary
Manage institutional lighting design, operations, and scheduling for New World Symphony performances, events, and external partners at the New World Center. Serve as primary lighting board operator for projects and events, liaise with rental clients and visiting artists, and assist with hang, focus, programming, and followspot operation. Oversee equipment maintenance, facility integrity, and production documentation while managing lighting budgets and approving expense requests. Participate in weekly meetings and support production logistics for rehearsals, tours, and domestic or international events. Work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends, moving heavy items and operating in outdoor conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in show production or another related field
- Minimum of three to five years of relevant experience at an event production company, music school, orchestra, touring company or other performing arts organization
- Advanced knowledge and demonstrated skill with theatrical lighting equipment specifically intelligent and moving head fixtures
- Advanced knowledge and demonstrated skill with GrandMA2/3 lighting consoles
- Advanced knowledge and demonstrated skill with DMX
- Basic understanding of lighting networking protocols such as sACN
- Basic understanding of lighting networking protocols such as artNET
- Demonstrated working knowledge of three-phase power and related systems
- Demonstrated skill with Vectorworks
- Demonstrated skill with AutoCAD
- Demonstrated skill with Lightwright software
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Ability to interpret diagrams, drawings, stage plots, input lists, equipment layouts, and other production documents
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
- Ability to transport, position, and remove items that may be bulky or heavy (up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to regularly ascend and descend stairs and stepladders
- Ability to occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions in South Florida
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with the Office 365
- Basic knowledge of video projection systems
- Basic knowledge of audio equipment and sound reinforcement
- General knowledge of performance and event conventions, terminology and backstage protocols
- Basic knowledge of musical performance conventions and forms
- Basic music/score reading
- Familiarity with classical music
