Lift Station Technician/ Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

Investigate utility systems and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and piping problems as directed by the Lead Maintenance Mechanic. Pull, repair, and analyze equipment including pumps, motors, and submersibles to complete required repairs. Respond to maintenance schedules and emergency calls, while performing lift station inspections, manhole checks, and fire hydrant maintenance. Drive company vehicles, maintain tool inventory, and coordinate labor and supplies for day-to-day requirements. Keep maintenance records up-to-date and act as a trainee for heavy equipment operation if designated. Perform cleaning, trimming, and alarm testing duties while adhering to physical demands involving confined spaces and outdoor fieldwork.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have lift station experience
  • Previous experience with water distribution systems
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Ability to demonstrate a level of mechanical electrical or plumbing aptitude
  • Previous utility experience
  • Confined space experience
  • Heavy equipment experience
  • Must possess mobility to work in wastewater treatment plants and related facilities
  • strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work
  • ability to work in confined spaces
  • ability to climb and descend ladders
  • ability to operate varied hand and power tools and construction equipment
  • vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
  • color vision to read gauges and identify appurtenances
  • hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio
  • Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator
  • ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 75 pounds and heavier weights with the use of proper equipment

Desired Qualifications

  • Water Distribution License
  • Expert in performing mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing abilities
