Job Summary
Operate overhead or side loader cranes to load and unload containers, chassis, and trailers onto and off railroad cars. Perform daily pre-inspections of tires, oil levels, hydraulics, and safety equipment including fire extinguishers. Lock and unlock container chassis, trailer hitches, IBCs, and bolsters while verifying numbers accurately. Activate work assignments via the on-board computer system and maintain clear communication with ground personnel. Ensure compliance with HAZMAT and OSHA regulations and complete special tasks as requested by management. Work 24/7/365 shifts at the Union Pacific Avondale, LA Terminal.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience
- Railroad and crane experience
- Valid Driver's License
- Advanced knowledge of railroad industry
- Ability to pass a 7-year background check
- Ability to pass a hair follicle drug test
- Ability to pass an IPCS Physical Capabilities Test
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
