Job Summary
Conduct and participate in inspections, testing, monitoring, maintenance, and repair of ski lift machinery, components, tools, and buildings to ensure safe and efficient operation. Execute scheduled maintenance, respond to operational problems by determining causes and implementing solutions, and perform repairs according to resort, department, ANSI B.77, and state policies. Log all maintenance and repairs on log sheets, organize shops and work areas, and remove snow from machinery in winter. Train and coach level 1 and 2 mechanics while expanding knowledge to achieve supervisory status. Work outdoors in changing weather conditions with frequent aerial work up to 75 feet, often lifting objects up to 100 pounds. This full-time, year-round role includes opportunities to develop and improve resort practices with the lift maintenance supervisor and manager.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Broad knowledge of ski lift equipment, terminology and operational procedures
- Expert knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems and their operation
- Advanced knowledge of major lift components such as gearboxes, engines, motors and lift physics
- Intermediate knowledge of lift construction procedures and the order of operations
- Making the safety of yourself and others a priority at all times
- Ability to ride a snowmobile
- Ability to ski or snowboard
Desired Qualifications
- College degree in a relatable field
- Welding and fabrication with steel, aluminum and stainless
- Rigging experience, weight estimation and construction experience
