Lifeguard

Maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas while conducting constant surveillance from the water's edge or elevated chair. Respond immediately to emergency situations, review all emergency procedures, and complete related reports. Perform equipment checks, inspect locker rooms before and after shifts, and check the pool and deck for hazardous conditions upon arrival. Apply safety rules, policies, and guidelines consistently, and arrange for qualified substitutes when needed. Attend all staff meetings and training, maintain positive relations with members and staff, and model relationship-building skills. Support The Y's Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Standards by encouraging families to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
