Job Summary
Lifeguard (Part Time) at YMCA in Indian Land, SC. Responsibilities include supervising swimmers during recreational and fitness swims; administering First Aid; enforcing facility policies and safety/sanitation procedures; maintaining surveillance of the pool area; responding to patron inquiries; inspecting the aquatic facility daily; completing records on patron attendance, water chemistry, and incidents; assisting the Aquatic Director with branch activities and events; promoting teamwork and clear communication of aquatics programs. Qualifications require at least 15 years old, current lifeguard certification (ARC, YMCA, ILTP Ellis, Starguard, or BSA Lifeguarding), ARC Lifeguard course if not already certified within 120 days, professional CPR, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and O2 (within 30 days). Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to respond swiftly in emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Current nationally recognized Lifeguard Certification to include: American Red Cross, YMCA, ILTP Ellis, Starguard, and Boy Scouts of America Lifeguarding Certification
- If not American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, must complete the American Red Cross Lifeguard course within the first 120 days of employment
- Current certification in Professional CPR
- Current First Aid
- Bloodborne Pathogens
- O2 certification (obtain within 30 days of hire)
- Ability to communicate effectively, professional mature image
- Physical ability to perform rescues and emergency responses (lifting up to 25 pounds)
