Job Summary
Lifeguard (Part Time) at Rock Hill Aquatics Center under the YMCA. Responsibilities include supervising swimmers during recreational and fitness swims, administering First Aid, enforcing facility policies, maintaining safe and sanitary pool conditions, inspecting the facility, completing attendance and water-chemistry records, assisting with branch activities and events, and providing customer service to members. Requires current lifeguard certification (American Red Cross/YMCA/Starguard/ILTP/BSA) with CPR, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and O2; applicant must be at least 15 years old and able to respond rapidly in emergencies. The role emphasizes safety, surveillance, teamwork, program communication, and overall pool-area maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Must have a current nationally recognized Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross, YMCA, ILTP Ellis, Starguard, Boy Scouts of America Lifeguarding Certification) or complete American Red Cross Lifeguard course within first 120 days of employment
- Current certification in Professional CPR
- First Aid
- Bloodborne Pathogens
- O2 certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire or at first available training)
- Professional, mature image and excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Positive attitude and commitment to YMCA mission
- Physical ability to perform lifeguard duties (standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, etc.)
- Ability to respond to emergencies quickly and effectively
