Job Summary
Monitor pool safety and enforce regulations regarding showers, food, drink, and conduct while maintaining clean and sanitary premises. Uphold YMCA mission and core values under the Aquatics Director's direction by ensuring compliance with NYS Health Department codes and reviewing emergency procedures. Report 15 minutes prior to shifts in proper uniform, secure substitutes when needed, and attend all staff meetings and in-services. Maintain required certifications including CPR, AED, and oxygen administration.
Required Qualifications
- 15 years of age or older
- current YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding certification
- ability to obtain YMCA Lifeguarding certification within 60 days of hire date
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification
- AED certification
- Oxygen Administration certification
- Basic First Aid certification
- lifeguard skills in accordance with the YMCA of Greater Rochester standards
- ability to stand for the duration of the shift
- ability to bend and stoop occasionally
- ability to lift at least 15 pounds occasionally
- ability to spend long periods of time in the pool
