Job Summary
Lifeguard at the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit responsible for maintaining safe swimming conditions under YMCA policies, surveilling the pool with the 10/20 scanning method, responding to emergencies, performing equipment and chemical checks, and supporting staff in safety and program engagement. Role requires monitoring and creating a safe, positive environment; training and certification participation; and attending staff meetings. Requires at least high school level education and ability to meet lifting and hearing skills; CPR/First Aid/AED and Emergency Oxygen are required or offered for certification. Flexible scheduling and YMCA benefits are provided; compensation is hourly, with a pay range of $14.00 to $16.94 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- High school level education (16+ years)
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer
- Basic First Aid
- AED
- Emergency Oxygen
- 1 year of experience preferred but not required
- American Red Cross Lifeguard license preferred but not required (certification offered)
