Job Summary
Lifeguard at a YMCA facility with responsibilities including active surveillance of the assigned aquatic zone, executing rapid emergency rescue techniques and providing CPR, AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen per YMCA standards, enforcing pool policies, performing routine chemical testing (chlorine, pH), equipment checks, and maintaining cleanliness of pool deck and surrounding spaces, plus ensuring safety and conducting regular safety audits. Requires staying physically capable, able to pass a lifeguard skills test, and adherence to youth protection policies.
Required Qualifications
- Age: Minimum age - 15 years old.
- Certifications: Current YMCA Lifeguard (or equivalent American Red Cross) certification, plus current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen.
- Physical Readiness: Ability to pass a rigorous Lifeguard Skills Test (endurance swim, timed object retrieval), and the physical mobility to climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Character & Conduct: Complete required child abuse prevention training and maintain a strict adherence to youth protection policies.
