Job Summary
Monitor and patrol designated beach or lagoon areas while establishing safe bathing zones and identifying hazards to minimize risks. Respond to emergencies by performing rescues, administering first aid, and conducting resuscitation when required. Maintain lifesaving skills and fitness standards through regular testing and complete incident reporting and operational documentation. Conduct equipment and vehicle checks to ensure operational readiness and support community awareness and water safety education programs. Applicants must possess an SLS Bronze Medallion, Certificate II in Public Safety, current First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation certificates, and a Working with Children Blue Card. Fitness testing is required on Saturday, 15 August, with two fully funded certification workshops offered for those needing to obtain essential credentials.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to successfully complete required beach or lagoon fitness testing
- SLS Bronze Medallion
- Certificate II in Public Safety (or equivalent)
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current Advanced Resuscitation Certificate
- Current Working with Children Blue Card or have the ability to obtain
- Proof of identity and Australian work rights
- A genuine commitment to child safety and wellbeing
- Calm and decisive under pressure
- Passionate about community safety
- Physically fit and capable of meeting operational requirements
