Job Summary

Teach aquatics-based merit badges and lessons to groups of 2-24 youth while presenting knowledge and modeling the Scout Oath and Law. Assist with program area set-up, maintenance, and take-down, and provide First Aid as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area, turning in advancement paperwork to a supervisor in a timely manner. Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership and abide by policies outlined in the staff handbook. Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record. Requires standing, walking, swimming, and paddling up to 8 hours daily with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work hours are 45-55.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum age: 18+
  • Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
  • Ability to stand, walk, swim, and paddle up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines

Desired Qualifications

  • Preferred: Red Cross Lifeguard certification. [Training provided]
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication
  • High emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)
  • Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focus
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skills
  • Ability to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgrounds
