Job Summary
Supervise and observe swimmers at all times to ensure their safety while enforcing Club rules and regulations regarding pool activities. Respond to emergency situations in accordance with established methods and procedures, administering First Aid and CPR as necessary. Maintain aquatic safety equipment by inspecting and reporting repairs to buoys, floats, and ropes. Perform maintenance duties to keep the pool, deck, and surrounding areas clean, safe, and attractive. Assist with opening and closing the facility, record chlorine and pH levels daily, and lead aquatic instruction and recreational activities including swimming lessons. Adhere to all club rules and regulations regarding uniforms and participate in required in-service training to retain necessary skills.
Required Qualifications
- Some High School courses
- Ability to swim laps and dive to the bottom of the pool
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate
- American Red Cross Basic First Aid required training on AED units
- Current Red Cross CPR card
- Ability to tolerate the smell of chlorine and frequent exposure to cleaning agents
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to stoop, stretch, twist, climb stairs, balance, crouch, bend, or kneel
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds in continuous repetitive motions
- Ability to perform physical exertion over long periods of time
- Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds
- Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
