Job Summary
Conduct aquatic safety patrols and monitor visitors during athletic and community recreation programs. Assess evolving dynamics of participants to immediately evaluate capabilities and threats, enforcing safety objectives firmly but politely. Provide on-site emergency medical services and adjust programs as necessary to ensure visitor and staff safety. Maintain knowledge of operational procedures, safety policies, and Red Cross certification standards for CPR, AED, and lifeguarding. Perform shifts Monday through Friday afternoons and varying weekend or summer hours. Background checks and work authorization are required for all offers.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate, or equivalent nationally recognized certification
- American Red Cross First Aid / CPR / AED Certification for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent nationally recognized certification
- 16+ years of age
- Swimming proficiency
- Ability to adjust programs as necessary to ensure the safety of the visitors and other staff
- Ability to judge and evaluate evolving dynamics of individuals participating in aquatic activities to immediately assess their capabilities and threats to their safety
- Knowledge of on-site protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies with the ability to enforce safety objectives firmly but politely
- Knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical services
- Any offers of employment will be contingent upon successful CORI/SORI and fingerprinting background checks as well as unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
