Job Summary

Monitor the pool area and surrounding facilities to ensure swimmer safety, enforce rules, and respond immediately to emergencies including administering CPR and first aid. Maintain water quality, inspect locker rooms, and perform routine maintenance tasks while documenting accidents and investigating near-miss incidents. Coordinate onsite activities with the Lead Residential Coordinator and communicate effectively with residents, staff, vendors, and visitors. Ensure full compliance with New York State certification, OSHA regulations, and RUPCO Inc. programming policies. This part-time role offers flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, with a salary of $25 hourly.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma recommended
  • Prior experience working as a pool lifeguard
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups
  • Planning and organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Computer literacy
  • Current lifeguard certification from a recognized training program
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Strong swimming skills and endurance
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in emergency situations
  • Physical ability to perform rescue maneuvers
  • Ability to lift and/or move large or heavy objects in excess of 30 pounds as needed
  • Must be comfortable with exposure to varying environmental climates and circumstances
  • Must be present on-site and be able to move throughout the facility to address pool-related matters and meet with residents, staff, vendors and visitors
  • Must meet all applicable New York State certification and training requirements
  • Must comply with workplace safety and OSHA regulations
  • Must maintain all required certifications throughout employment and comply with applicable New York Department of Health aquatic safety regulations
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to RUPCO Inc.'s programming rules, regulations, and policies
  • Must be able to talk or hear
  • Must be able to stand
  • Must be able to walk
  • Must be able to touch, handle, or feel
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to do physical work on-site or during community service events

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people, seniors, and individuals with disabilities preferred
