Job Summary
Provide a safe, orderly environment at the Prosper ISD Natatorium by maintaining constant surveillance of patrons and acting as a first responder during emergencies. Perform rescues, administer CPR, and deliver minor first aid care while enforcing pool rules and procedures. Follow a rotation of stations, conduct facility safety checks, and perform maintenance duties including pool setup for meets. Maintain fitness and current American Red Cross certifications. Self-schedule coverage for missed shifts and attend staff meetings and trainings. Participate in Natatorium events as directed.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification
- Extensive knowledge of and ability to administer first aid, CPR, and other lifesaving techniques
- Knowledge of and skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and procedures related to the possibility of infectious or hazardous materials
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to follow and enforce pool procedures, regulations, and rules
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
- Maintain fitness (swimming skills, strength, and endurance) at the level at which certification occurred with the American Red Cross as a lifeguard
- Maintain current certifications including any additional safety training
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
