Job Summary
Lifeguard responsible for pool safety during morning hours at YMCA, actively patrolling the pool deck, scanning for distressed swimmers, enforcing all pool rules, and providing immediate first aid as needed. Maintains certifications (lifesaving, First-Aid, CPR/AED, Oxygen), completes incident/save reports, adheres to YMCA standards, and works as part of the Aquatic Team to ensure a safe, member-friendly environment. Requires strong observation, communication, and teamwork to uphold safety and respond promptly to emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years of age
- Current lifesaving, First-Aid, CRP/AED and Oxygen certification
- Ability to enforce pool rules fairly and effectively
- Ability to use water testing kit and be part of the team accurately reflecting results
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Mature and responsible demeanor; react without hesitation; professional manner
- Ability to see and hear individuals and alarms in pool/pool area
- Physical ability to control and rescue swimmers; lifting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, concentration, attention and focus for extended periods
