Job Summary
Conduct lifeguard duties at a municipal swimming facility, including water rescue, safety enforcement, and pool maintenance oversight. Prepare work schedules, assign staff to duty stations, and instruct patrons on operating procedures and safety rules. Oversee lifeguards in enforcing regulations and occasionally manage concession stands, gift shops, or event admissions. Complete mandatory training in lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR prior to hire. Pass an initial swim test within seven business days of accepting a conditional offer.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the time of application submission.
- Applicants must have completed Lifeguard Certification as issued by the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department.
- Applicants must have completed Basic First Aid.
- Applicants must have completed CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED Module.
- Ability to travel is required.
- Applicants must pass an initial swim test within seven (7) business days of accepting a conditional offer of employment.
- Applicants must be eligible for rehire if they are former employees.
- Applicants must be able to make change.
- Applicants must be able to operate a concession stand or gift shop.
- Applicants must be able to collect fees, admission tickets, and passes from patrons at various events or City facilities.
- Applicants must be able to receive pay electronically via direct deposit or pay card.
- Applicants must be able to print, complete, sign, and have a parent or legal guardian sign the Authorization for Background and Drug Test for Minors if under 18.
