Job Summary
Scan the pool continuously to prevent emergencies, recognizing and addressing incidents immediately while performing assists or rescues. Provide care including CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen as needed, and activate the branch emergency protocol when required. Enforce pool rules professionally, handle issues as they arise, and ensure a clean, safe environment by assisting with cleaning and testing when off the stand. Complete incident reports timely, maintain clear communication with supervisors, and participate in all safety drills and required trainings. Arrive 10 minutes prior to shift start, lock doors when not on duty, and find your own coverage for any schedule changes.
Required Qualifications
- Active Lifeguard Certifications (ex. YMCA, Red Cross)
- At least 18 years of age
- Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff
- Must be able to scan the pool visually
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Child Abuse Prevention certification (within first four weeks of employment)
- Respect in the Workplace (Sexual Harassment Prevention) training
- The Professional Lifeguard certification
- Disappearing Dummies certification
- CPR, First Aid, O2 certification
- YMCA Lifeguarding certification
- Must be available for early mornings, nights, and weekends
