Job Summary
Monitor activities at the municipal swimming facility, protect swimmer safety, and provide emergency care including rescue breathing, CPR, and First Aid. Observe swimmers, enforce rules, caution unsafe practices, maintain order, and rescue individuals in distress. Maintain a safe and clean environment by cleaning restrooms, removing trash, and securing areas. Occasionally operate a concession stand, make change, and collect admission fees. Complete Lifeguard Certification, Basic First Aid, and CPR training within the first month. Work part-time up to 29 hours weekly or seasonal shifts from April to October 2026.
Required Qualifications
- At least 16 years of age at the time of application submission
- Lifeguard Certification as issued by the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department
- Basic First Aid
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED Module
- Pass an initial swim test within seven (7) business days of accepting a conditional offer of employment
- Eligible for rehire (if former employee)
- Pass a criminal history background check
- Pass a drug test
- Pass a physical examination
