Job Summary
Maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool and surrounding areas while promoting member safety in accordance with YMCA policies. Responsibilities include constant pool surveillance, emergency response, effective member relations, safety rule application, and maintenance of the aquatic environment. Candidates must have appropriate lifeguarding certifications, be at least 16 years old, and demonstrate required lifeguard skills.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age of 16
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification
- AED certification
- Basic First Aid certification
- Current YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification
- Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness
- Demonstrate lifeguard skills according to YMCA and NYS Health Department Requirements
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to pass lifeguard water test
- Must remain alert and be able to sit or stand for extended periods
