Job Summary
Lifeguard responsible for always ensuring the safety of pool patrons and frontline monitoring of participants; maintain pool operations including pumping, filtration, heating, and sanitizing systems; ensure chemical safety; possess CPR for Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications; monitor for signs of distress and respond to emergencies; provide customer service to YMCA members; support Annual Campaign fundraising; uphold the organization’s Judeo-Christian principles and the four pillars of character (caring, honesty, respect, responsibility); collaborate with staff and volunteers, and maintain a positive environment for staff, parents, and children.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment
- Current YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- Ability to supervise and lead multiple part-time staff
- Foster positive staff, parent, and child relations
- Sound working knowledge of pool operations
- Must pass criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under Georgia DOL and YMCA guidelines
