Job Summary
Lifeguard - Durango seasonal (May 15–Sept 26) at YMCA of Southern Nevada. Monitor aquatic areas to ensure participant safety, enforce safety standards, and provide swimming lessons. Certifications can be obtained through YMCA after applying; roles include lifeguard duties and swim-instruction responsibilities, with required water-test demonstrating lifeguard strokes and rescue skills. Instructors may be asked to develop or follow lesson plans and maintain attendance/skill records. Roles are part-time, in-person, and seasonal with potential early start at indoor pool locations; benefits include PTO, retirement contributions, YMCA membership, and other wellness perks.
Required Qualifications
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certification
- Deep Water Certification if working at a pool over 5 feet deep
- Current American Red Cross Administering Emergency Oxygen Certification (within 60 days of hire)
- YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor certification or equivalent preferred (swim instructors only)
- All certifications can be obtained through the YMCA after applying
- Highschool diploma or GED, or degree in progress
- Minimum of three months’ relevant experience or training
- Must be 15 years of age or older for Lifeguards; 16+ for Swim Instructors
- Must successfully pass a water test consisting of lifeguard strokes and general rescue skills
- This is a part-time seasonal role
