Job Summary
Monitor pools and surrounding recreation areas to detect hazards, disturbances, and safety infractions while enforcing pool rules. Respond and aid distressed persons using rescue techniques and equipment, contacting emergency medical personnel for serious injuries. Maintain cleanliness of the pool and surrounding areas, ensuring a welcoming environment for guests, members, and residents. Constantly surveil the area to address potential hazards and emergency situations proactively. Maintain an open line of communication with supervisors and relay guest concerns to management. Adhere to uniform standards and personal protective equipment protocols in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to humid conditions and pool chemicals. Flexible schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- 15 years of age or older
- valid certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
- American Red Cross Community or Professional C.P.R.
- American Red Cross Standard First Aid
- ability to obtain certification within three months of employment
- Ability to swim
- Ability to exert great amounts of energy during water rescues or pool maintenance activities
- Ability to quickly move arms, hands, and fingers to grasp; manipulate and assemble objects
- Ability to walk; sit; reach with hands and arms
- Ability to climb or balance
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or stand for long periods of time
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Capable of lifting up to 150 lbs with or without assistance
- See objects at close range and at a distance
- Comprehend and follow directions
- Effectively handle stressful and difficult situations/interactions while remaining focused and professional
- Identify complex problems, evaluate options, and implement solutions
- Read and interpret documents such as handbooks, reports, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Perform complex or varied tasks under deadlines and tight schedules
- Work productively under strict time restraints with variable deadlines
- Maintain eye contact and engage with internal and external guests in a courteous and professional manner
- Must be able to pass a background investigation
- Must be able to pass a drug screen
