Job Summary
Lifeguard responsible for supervising the outdoor pool during the Summer Program (June–Sept) to ensure patron safety, enforce pool rules, and respond to incidents. Duties include administering a deep-end swim test, performing first aid and CPR as needed, assessing conditions for safety, inspecting facilities and equipment, and completing weekly lap-swim and in-service trainings. Paid lifeguard training is provided for candidates not yet certified, with certification coursework conducted during the training period. Requires availability for 9:30 am–6:30 pm shifts, weekends, and a minimum of 15 hours per week, with at least four weekend shifts per month. Outdoor environment and physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, and performing water rescues in varying weather conditions. The role is seasonal and non-exempt, with wage starting at $18/hour, and training opportunities supported by in-house instructors.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 15 years of age
- Lifeguarding Certification (American Red Cross or other providers as accepted by Rens Co DOH)
- CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Pass comprehensive background check (fingerprinting, child abuse clearance, sex offender registry)
- Ability to evaluate water conditions and provide on-site emergency medical services
