Job Summary
Maintain continuous surveillance of the pool and aquatic area, enforce safety rules, and respond to emergencies as a lifeguard. Perform rescues and lifesaving skills, conduct equipment checks, and participate in ongoing training to uphold safety standards. Build positive relationships with members and staff, complete required reports, and uphold YMCA safety policies. Certifications and minimum age requirements are specified for eligibility, with 1-2 years lifeguard experience preferred. Duties include endurance swims, safe water rescues, and working collaboratively with the team to ensure a safe environment.
Required Qualifications
- Mandatory Lifeguard certifications (YMCA Lifeguard or American Safety & Health Institute or American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS for the Professional Rescuer)
- Standard/Community First Aid certifications
- Emergency Oxygen Administration

- Age 16+; ability to meet physical demands of lifeguard duties; ability to pass pre-employment skills assessment as applicable
