Job Summary
Senior-level life underwriting professional responsible for underwriting life, disability, and long-term care insurance applications. Builds and maintains credible relationships with Financial Advisors and internal partners, guides case underwriting and risk appraisal, and collaborates with field partners to explain decisions and place business. Applies underwriting standards, reviews applications, and determines approvals, classifications, or declines with guidance. Develops proficiency with reinsurance, utilizes diverse information sources (digital health data, third-party advisors), and participates in cross-functional projects to advance product processes. Requires strong analytical judgment, communication, and adaptability to evolving underwriting practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- 1.5 years of traditional underwriting experience
- Analytical skills with independent decision-making
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to work in team and independently
- Highly organized with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt in a changing work environment
