Job Summary
Direct and manage the operations of an Underwriting unit through recruitment, selection, training, development, motivation, and salary administration of underwriter staff. Oversee/coordinate division workflow and manage underwriting projects, customer service initiatives, work efforts and risk analysis of underwriters to ensure customer-centered communication at the agency level. Lead complex projects including major system and process improvement initiatives; act as liaison to field management, agents, and other departments regarding underwriting concerns; develop and monitor customer service standards for agency staff; supervise underwriters and develop them through instruction, audits, and coaching; manage budgets and drive process improvements within underwriting operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education or progressively responsible work experience
- Experience in life underwriting and leadership preferred
- Track record of obtaining results
- Strong project management skills with ability to lead or manage departmental projects or process improvement initiatives
- Strong communication and change management skills
- Minimum seven years of operational experience preferred
