Life Support Systems (LSS) Mechanical Engineer is responsible for aiding the AxPLSS team with the development, maturation, and operation of spaceflight hardware to support the EVA spacesuit program. The role involves owning single-suit architecture designs for multiple mission environments, delivering concept through on-orbit services, and driving modern space suit standards and practices. Responsibilities include generating/reviewing CAD models and analyses (NX/Creo/SolidWorks; Python for analysis), defining product lifecycle from supply chain to final integration, validating designs by analysis or test, leading design and production reviews, supporting manufacturing and assembly (in-house and on-orbit), and communicating progress to stakeholders while applying agile project management. Required skills include hands-on hardware experience, strong collaboration, and familiarity with flight hardware development; education and experience include a B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 3+ years in life-support engineering. The role emphasizes high ownership, execution speed, problem-solving, and a passion for space with a focus on delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.
