Job Summary
The Life Skills Specialist is responsible for executing life skills training and facilitating residential treatment programs for youth, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills to seek independence. The role includes the development and maintenance of independent living groups, monitoring and administering various life skills assessments, and communicating effectively with young adults and service providers. Skills required include strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with the ability to create a safe environment. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and a commitment to program responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Valid driver's license with a minimum of one year
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively
- Ability to create a safe and therapeutic environment
- Ability to complete documentation as required
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of community-based resources throughout the Capital region
- Experience working with teenagers and young adults
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Additional Requirements
- Must be available to work a 40-hour work week
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand and run for moderate periods of time
- Willingness to respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population
