Job Summary
Provide instructional and personal care support for students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom. Assist in preparing instructional materials, maintaining an orderly classroom, and handling equipment inventory. Support substitute teachers and maintain confidentiality. Manage student behavior, assist with transfers and personal care (including helping with feeding, bathroom needs, and positioning), supervise students during the day (lunchroom, bus, playground), and adapt methods to each student’s medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs. Follow district safety and emergency procedures and participate in staff development.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Associates degree or two years of college coursework
- Experience working with children
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
