Job Summary

Life Sciences Engineer I performs and documents scheduled maintenance and repair services on research and manufacturing equipment at pharmaceutical facilities, including preventative maintenance, calibration, and validation of equipment ranging from water purification systems, scales/balancers, centrifuges, freezers/LN2 storage units/refrigerators, incubators, and humidity chambers. Responsibilities include planned maintenance and verification/qualification of laboratory multi-vendor instruments; delivering high levels of customer service; communicating results to end users; diagnosing errors; collaborating with internal partners to resolve issues; producing accurate service and expense reports; escalating to leadership when needed and assisting with additional duties as assigned by management (e.g., escorting vendors). Safety and compliance obligations include following OSHA guidelines and maintaining related trainings. The role requires the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively, and to handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds. This position emphasizes accountability, teamwork, and a customer-first mindset in a non-exempt, on-site (Boston, MA) setting. Required Qualifications

  • Laboratory, electronic, mechanical technician or related experience required
  • Experience with life science laboratory equipment (water purification, scales/ balances, centrifuges, freezers/LN2 storage units/refrigerators, incubators, and humidity chambers, or equivalent instruments) preferred
  • Understanding of metrology/calibration preferred
  • Experience working in a GxP regulated environment preferred
  • Computer savvy with MS Office suite (MS Word, MS Excel)
  • High level attention to detail
  • Self-directed / time management skills
  • Basic hands-on mechanical skills
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent required
  • College Degree, Technical Certification, or higher education preferred
