Job Summary
Plan, develop, and lead therapeutic activities that improve the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of residents while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to facility policies. Provide one-on-one and group programs tailored to individual interests, cultural patterns, and functional abilities, including in-room projects for bed-bound residents. Independently create structures, gather resident data on behaviors and responses, and assist volunteers with orientation and training. Maintain volunteer records, deliver personal mail, and participate in committees and continuing education. Assume program authority in the absence of the Program Director and perform other duties as assigned by the Activity Director or Executive Director.
Required Qualifications
- sincere desire for working with elderly people
- capable of making mature judgments
- no physical or mental disabilities that would interfere with carrying out the duties of this position
- ability to be physically active, requiring bending, stretching, and reaching, pushing and considerable walking
- minimum of a high school diploma
- ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public
- willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel

- willingness to deal with residents on whatever level they are functioning at
- willingness to incorporate new ideas into the existing activity program
- some understanding of the social, psychological and recreational needs of the elderly
