Job Summary

Lead the Gonzales ISD Police Department as second-in-command, supervising officers and evaluating performance while directing patrol strategies and investigations. Coordinate district-wide safety planning, emergency operations, and evacuation drills in alignment with Texas Education Code and TEA standards. Oversee the Guardian Program, ensuring trainer certification, background checks, and compliance with state statutes. Facilitate training on de-escalation and threat assessment, manage incident documentation, and foster community relations through campus meetings. Requires a Bachelor's degree, valid TCOLE license, and five years of law enforcement experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Educational Leadership, or related field
  • Valid Texas Peace Officer License (TCOLE)
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Minimum of five (5) years of law enforcement experience
  • At least two (2) years in supervisory, command, or leadership capacity
  • Strong understanding of school safety frameworks, emergency operations planning, and threat assessment models
  • Knowledge of TEA safety requirements, Guardian Program guidelines, FERPA, and applicable federal/state statutes
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and crisis management skills
  • Ability to train, coach, and mentor officers and staff
  • Must maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct
  • Must meet physical requirements of law enforcement duties
  • May be required to stand, walk, or engage in physical response for extended periods
  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach others

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • School Resource Officer (SRO) certification
  • Certified Guardian Program Trainer (or ability to obtain)
