Licensing Specialist (Foster Care) - Seminole

Job Summary
Conduct initial and re-licensure home studies, including assessments of household members, background screenings, and quarterly abuse report histories. Perform regular home visits to family foster homes throughout the initial licensure process and conduct ongoing assessments to determine capacity based on family skills, training, and household composition. Serve as a liaison between foster parents and case managers to ensure open communication and timely resolution of concerns. Review licensing file packets for processing, ensure compliance with Florida Administrative Code, and participate in DCF licensing reviews and federal funding monitoring. Assist Licensing Supervisors with problem resolution, quality improvement, and policy manual reviews. On-call assignments are required, with local travel at 40% per week and long-distance at 5% per month. This role supports the mission to protect and inspire every child through rigorous adherence to state and federal standards.
Required Qualifications
- An associate degree from an accredited college or 60+ college credits from an accredited college
- Two years of full-time social work or human services experience
- Two years of professional work experience
- Examples of work experience could be, but are not limited to: Guardian Ad Litem or similar child advocate role

- Teacher's assistant/aide
- Childcare provider/staff
- Therapeutic Assistant
- Behavioral health technician
- Family intervention specialist
- Home health aide
- Nurse (LPN or RN) or similar profession
- Nursing facility assistance
- Emergency Medical Services (EMS
- Other professional jobs that require an assessment of factors that can contribute to trauma or protective capacities with children and families
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent (official transcripts required)
- Four or more years of full time social work or human services experience
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a social work or related area of study from an accredited college or university
- Related degrees are Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Counselling, Special Education, Education, Human Development, Child Development, Family Development, Marriage and Family Therapy
- Ability to understand and interpret statute, administrative code and operating procedure
- Strong computer, analytic and research skills
- Effective verbal and written skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to develop and utilize tracking mechanisms
- Ability to analyze, integrate and report data
- Demonstrate cultural and linguistic competence & sensitivity to population served
- Ability to travel
- Thorough Background Screening upon hire including FBI, FDLE, Local Law check, Employment Reference check, DMV check, Criminal Records check, Social Security Trace & Drug Screening
