Licensed Vocational nurse

Job Summary
Conduct routine patient care in clinic settings, excluding IV medications, while documenting procedures in the EHR and managing chart preparation. Perform sterile wound care, catheter insertion, point-of-care testing, and minor surgery support under provider direction. Coordinate immunization workflows, manage medication inventories, and oversee instrument sterilization and infection control protocols. Assist physicians with diagnostic functions including EKGs and visual testing, while de-escalating patient concerns and supporting telehealth visits. Maintain quality assurance packets and participate in continuous improvement activities. Work a varied 40-hour schedule including evenings and weekends, floating to other units as needed to support San Ysidro Health's patient-centered mission.
Required Qualifications
- 1 year of experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse
- High School Diploma/GED
- Graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nursing program
- Current license to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in California
- Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
- Ability to read, write and comprehend English
- Ability to read, write and comprehend medical information and terminology
- Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written
- Good interpersonal skills
- Continuous standing/walking/twisting
- Prolonged sitting
- Occasionally lifts pushes and/or transfers patients
- Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, and illness)
- Ability to work a varied, 40 hours per week schedule to include evenings and/or weekends, between the hours of 8 am to 8pm
- Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs
- Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters
