Job Summary
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) providing on-site medical care within a 24-hour crisis receiving environment for behavioral health, supporting patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions; duties include patient intake, assessments, vital signs, medical histories, documentation in the EHR, medication management, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. New grads are encouraged to apply and the role requires flexibility to work holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts; includes engagement with community resources and adherence to infection control and program standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current license as Licensed Vocational Nurse with the State of California required.
- Two plus years of clinical experience with OR an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- New graduates with licenses are encouraged to apply.
- Fluency in additional languages preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Knowledge of community resources, including Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and the county's General Assistance Program.
- Knowledge of medications, usages, interactions, and effects of substance use.
- Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress; react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
- Experience educating patients and providing instructions on proper care and treatment.
- Maintain detailed records.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service experience, including active listening, problem-solving, and calmness in emotional or stressful situations.
- Computer (PC) literate, including electronic health record, word processing, and e-mail, required.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate a high level of listening skills.
- Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to standard precautions of temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self-monitoring, masking and social distancing.
- Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.
- Ability to work holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts as needed to maintain required staffing levels.
- Successful completion of all required organizational and Crisis program training.
- Must be willing to successfully complete the credentialing process.
