Job Summary
Provide patient care on a psychiatry unit under RN supervision, administering oral and injectable medications while monitoring physical and emotional well-being. Assist with personal hygiene, conduct effective patient and family teaching, and participate in rehabilitation and treatment programs. Collaborate with the health care team to develop treatment plans, observe patients for behavioral changes, and restrain violent or suicidal individuals as required. Maintain accurate documentation, ensure infection control and HIPAA compliance, and encourage patients in social and recreational activities. Requires current California LVN licensure, AHA BLS, and de-escalation certification; ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Current Licensure as a Vocational Nurse in the State of California
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Vocational Nursing
- AHA Basic Life Support
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment
- De-escalation certification upon hire
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only)
Desired Qualifications
- Recent behavioral health experience in an Acute Psychiatric setting
- SAMA Certification upon hire
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
